Chi Xingyu couldn’t take her eyes off Tong Sui.
Her movements came to a halt as she stared at him, and Tong Sui, puzzled, met her gaze, only to notice that Chi Xingyu’s eyes were profoundly deep, filled with unexpressed feelings.
Tong Sui immediately sensed something was off and said, his voice trembling slightly, “Chi Xingyu, why don’t you step outside? I can handle the rest myself.”
Chi Xingyu acknowledged him but instead of leaving, she moved closer, wrapping Tong Sui in her arms from behind. The familiar scent enveloped him.
She lowered her head, the tip of her nose brushing lightly against Tong Sui’s ear.
It was a tingling sensation, so fine it nearly tickled.
It felt as though they were back in that night, alone together, without cameras or distractions.
Tong Sui struggled to gather himself, pressing his hands against the wall so hard they turned pale. “Chi Xingyu.”
He wanted to remind her to respect boundaries, but she misinterpreted his words as encouragement, her breath brushing against his ear as she softly said, “I love hearing you say my name.”
Tong Sui felt a wave of despair wash over him, yet he could do nothing as he felt Chi Xingyu’s hand suddenly press against his, forcefully opening his clenched fist, intertwining their fingers together.
She had always been so domineering.
Despite being younger than him, she had an uncanny ability to take control over Tong Sui.
Tong Sui felt shy and completely helpless, only able to tilt his head back to avoid her gaze.
He heard her whisper against his earlobe, “The scent on you is so much better than that perfume, it’s addictive.”
Zhong Yi stood outside, waiting for a while. Seeing that there was still no movement inside, he began to grow anxious.
But he thought, no matter how bold Chi Xingyu was, she wouldn’t go too far, so he patiently waited for a few more minutes until the curtain finally opened.
However, only Chi Xingyu stepped out. She held the outfit that Tong Sui was supposed to change into, wearing a satisfied expression.
Zhong Yi asked, “What were you doing in there?”
“Nothing much,” Chi Xingyu replied, unable to hide a smirk on her lips, as if relishing a delightful memory, and a gentle smile lingered at the corners of her eyes.
To Zhong Yi, it looked particularly glaring.
“What did he call you in for?”
“I had no obligation to tell you,” Chi Xingyu said, brushing past Zhong Yi and walking towards He Jie while holding the clothing. “This outfit isn’t suitable; have someone change it.”
He Jie stared in shock.
He didn’t know the background of the person in front of him, hence he had no idea that everyone on this variety show was someone he couldn’t afford to offend.
“When did it become your place to question whether clothing is suitable?”
Seeing the staff badge hanging around Chi Xingyu’s neck, He Jie instinctively thought she was just a worker. “Which department are you from? Get your supervisor over here.”
Chi Xingyu confidently looked at the production team.
As the director of the entire show, Sun Tao felt a tingling sensation in his scalp as he viewed the scene through the monitors. How could this little brat create trouble for him like this?
But he couldn’t afford to offend her.
Sun Tao had to go over in person. “Manager He.”
When He Jie saw Sun Tao had come personally, his haughty expression quickly softened, and he looked down, extending his hand. “Director Sun, what brings you here? This little matter can be resolved between her and me—it’s just a piece of clothing.”
“You weren’t acting like this a moment ago.” Chi Xingyu said coldly, “The show isn’t lacking in advertisers; this brand isn’t high-end enough anyway, so best to just switch it out.”
“You—”
He Jie didn’t expect Chi Xingyu to be this assertive. Just as he opened his mouth to retort, he was pulled aside by Sun Tao.
“Manager He, why did you have to provoke her?”
“What’s wrong with her?” He Jie replied.
Sun Tao said nothing but silently took out his phone, opened Chi Xingyu’s profile, and handed it to him.
When He Jie saw the information about Chi Xingyu’s family background, his eyes widened, and cold sweat dampened what little hair he had left. “The young master of the Chi family? How could she be working here?”
Sun Tao briefly explained, and He Jie finally realized how big of a mistake he had made, immediately transforming his demeanor upon turning back.
“Ms. Chi, please don’t be angry,” He Jie said. “It was my oversight. Since we’ve signed the contract already, and Mr. Tong Sui is still waiting for you, why don’t you come and choose from the remaining outfits?”
Thinking of Tong Sui, Chi Xingyu’s expression softened, and she didn’t want to argue further. She picked out a pure white casual suit from the rack and walked back into the fitting room.
When the curtain was lifted, Tong Sui trembled slightly, feeling tension surge when she saw Chi Xingyu.
She was only wearing her original sweatshirt, which hung loosely over her, with her knees pressed together, tinted faintly pink.
There was still a red mark on her neck from where Chi Xingyu had just touched.
Her eyes were still slightly red.
Chi Xingyu coughed awkwardly a couple of times and handed over the outfit she brought, saying, “I got you a new outfit to try on.”
“Oh,” Tong Sui replied slowly, taking the clothes and whispering, “Aren’t you going to step outside?”
Only then did Chi Xingyu finally move, stepping outside.
Tong Sui let out a sigh of relief.
He looked at the outfit Chi Xingyu had brought back. It was much more appropriate than the previous one. He quickly changed and stepped out.
The moment the curtain was drawn back, Chi Xingyu’s eyes lit up.
Pure white indeed suited Tong Sui perfectly.
As for the outfit that made her feel exposed earlier, she certainly didn’t want anyone else to see that.
Zhong Yi, impressed, couldn’t help but notice the red mark on Tong Sui’s neck that hadn’t faded yet.
